Why Do Some GM Crops Contain the Epicyte Gene?

Why Do Some GM Crops Contain the Epicyte Gene_gm corn

While there are many harmless genetically modified crops that have been around for centuries – bananas are just one. There are others that have the potential to cause irreversible sterility. Those GM crops contain the epicyte gene.

What is the epicyte gene? The epicyte gene, named for the corporation that created it – Epicyte Pharmaceuticals, activates a rare class of antibodies that attack sperm. How did Epicyte Pharmaceuticals do this? By isolating the genes that regulate the manufacture of these spermicidal antibodies. But unlike other forms of pharmaceutical birth control, once a man or woman has been affected, or infected, by the epicyte gene it is permanent. There is no known way to reverse its effect.

The Evidence

The Austrian Government, via the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, sponsored a long-term multi-generational feeding study that confirmed the findings of previous and following studies: feeding mice with genetically modified corn developed by the Monsanto Corporation led to lower fertility and body weight. The laboratory mice were split into two groups. One group was fed a diet containing 33% of a GM variety (NK 603 x MON 810) corn and the other group was fed a closely related non-GM variety used in many countries. There were significant decreases in both litter size and pup weight, in the third and fourth generation litters, when comparing the mice fed GM corn and those fed non-GM corn. Professor Zentek, the lead author of the study, believes that there is a direct link between the decrease in the mice subjects’ fertility and the GM diet. The mice who were fed non-GM corn continued to reproduce normally.

This was not the only study to reach the same conclusion.

Another long-term multi-generational study conducted jointly by the National Association for Gene Security and the Institute of Ecological and Evolutional Problems, in Russia, found that feeding hamsters GM soy resulted in complete sterility after three generations. FYI, 95% of all the world’s soy is genetically modified. One of the study’s authors, Dr. Alexei Surov, had this to say:

“We selected several groups of hamsters, kept them in pairs in cells and gave them ordinary food as always. We did not add anything for one group but the other was fed with soya that contained no GM components, while the third group with some content of Genetically Modified Organisms and the fourth one with increased amount of GMO. We monitored their behavior and how they gain weight and when they give birth to their cubs. Originally, everything went smoothly. However, we noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from their cubs and continued to feed them as before. These pairs’ growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly. When we got some of their cubs we formed the new pairs of the third generation. We failed to get cubs from these pairs, which were fed with GM foodstuffs. It was proved that these pairs lost their ability to give birth to their cubs.”1

The scientists were further astonished to discover that the sterile third-generation hamsters had also grown hair in their mouths. They have yet to determine how or why this happened.

GM crops were first introduced in the 1970s and since that time, sperm counts among the world’s human male population have declined as much as 40-50%, according to some studies. GM foods may be just one factor causing the decreasing sperm levels. However, the most illustrious scientists on the planet have warned against the consumption of GM foods, and the whole of the EU has GMO labeling laws in place, which led to the economic banishment of such foods from their grocery shelves. But not everyone is concerned. Some believe that GMOs are beneficial and that any problems they may cause are outweighed by the good that they may do.

Keep in mind that none of these studies are closely guarded secrets. At this point in time, everyone and their uncle knows what the data has revealed and have chosen to either believe or dismiss the findings. So, who are these optimists that believe GM crops are a boon to all mankind? Apparently, U.S. politicians across party lines, companies that profit from GM crops, scientists who’ll agree with anything if the price is right, and one philanthropic billionaire who fears the overpopulation of the earth.

Politics and Money

It’s not hard to guess why politicians are pro-GMOs. When power and money are at stake you can always count on a politician to screw over their constituents to ensure they maintain access to both. Make no mistake, your “representatives” only care what the wealthy and powerful – whose money they require to remain viable candidates in today’s world – think about policies that affect all of our lives. The real question is, what do the wealthy, powerful and seemingly philanthropic have to gain by promoting and protecting GM crops?

The Power Elite

For as long as I can remember, the wealthy and influential have publicly wrung their hands and cried that the world was becoming overpopulated and that soon there would not be enough food and water for them everyone. Now, some are claiming that overpopulation is causing global warming and the possible end of human civilization. (Note: I am NOT a climate change denier.) One of the most prominent members of the power elite making these “overpopulation=global warming” claims is none other than Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates.

Seven years ago, Bill Gates gave a Ted Talk during which he made the following statement:

“The world today has 6.8 billion people… that’s headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent.”2

His statement left me scratching my head. Shouldn’t safe vaccines, competent health care, and reproductive services – that respect the wishes of those receiving them – have the opposite effect and actually increase the populations in those countries by lowering mortality rates, providing prenatal care and ensuring that children grow up to make babies of their own? It made me wonder what these “new vaccines” were really designed to do and whether or not the high and mighty would be lining up their own offspring to receive the injections?

Apparently, not satisfied with promoting these “new vaccines” in the Third World, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation purchased 500,000 shares of Monsanto stock worth $23 million, partnered with agricultural giant Cargill, which controls MOST of the world’s food commodities, in an $8-10 million project to “develop the soya value chain” in Mozambique and Zambia. The foundation is also working with USAID (United States Agency for International Development) and several other countries, who must know better based on their own countries’ policies regarding GM products, to grow GMOs in several African countries.

The following two paragraphs are from a press release created by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation:

‘President Obama as chair of the G8 announced support for a range of efforts to increase the productivity and nutrition of smallholder farmers. He also launched a “New Alliance for Nutrition and Food Security,” an agricultural development program partnering donors with African countries and the private sector. “I welcome President Obama’s commitment to help ensure coordinated global attention to the critical issue of agricultural development,” said Gates. “These are exactly the kind of smart, innovative partnerships with African governments we need to accelerate progress and I hope that the G8 will put in place clear, actionable targets and accountability mechanisms to ensure these efforts are meaningful. Unless we measure, we can’t see if we are succeeding.”’3

In case you didn’t know, the G8 (The Group of Eight Industrialized Nations) is comprised of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Russia. The European Union is a non-enumerated 9th member. These countries represent 50% of the world’s economy. When you hear journalists discussing the “New Alliance” or the “New Alliance for Food Security & Nutrition” they are referring to the G8.

It’s also worth remembering that most of these countries have GMO labeling laws that put the manufacturers of GM food products out of business in their own nations; yet, here they are, supporting GMOs in Africa. Why? Who benefits? You are welcome to draw your own conclusions. I have.

The Epicyte Gene

At this point you may be wondering what I did: Why even add the epicyte gene to corn and soy crops? To understand the possible reasons why you must first understand that Epicyte Pharmaceuticals created the gene to act as a natural and cheap form of birth control. Not kidding. That was/is the intended purpose of the epicyte gene.

“Scientists have created the ultimate GM crop: contraceptive corn. Waiving fields of maize may one day save the world from overpopulation. The pregnancy prevention plants are the handiwork of the San Diego biotechnology company Epicyte, where researchers have discovered a rare class of human antibodies that attack sperm. By isolating the genes that regulate the manufacture of these antibodies, and by putting them in corn plants, the company has created tiny horticultural factories that make contraceptives.

We have a hothouse filled with corn plants that make anti-sperm antibodies,’ said Epicyte president Mitch Hein.

‘We have also created corn plants that make antibodies against the herpes virus, so we should be able to make a plant-based jelly that not only prevents pregnancy but also blocks the spread of sexual disease.’

Contraceptive corn is based on research on the rare condition, immune infertility, in which a woman makes antibodies that attack sperm.”4

Monsanto has sworn up and down that they have not added the epicyte gene to their GM crops; yet, evidence to the contrary persists.

Eugenics: History and Purpose

Eugenics (which means “good genes”) is the belief and practice of improving the genetic quality of the human race by promoting reproduction among those with desired traits (aka positive eugenics) and reducing the reproduction of those with undesired traits (aka negative eugenics).

The concept of eugenics was pioneered by a British scientist but became an academic discipline at many colleges and universities beyond the United Kingdom. The United States government implemented eugenics policies across the nation long before World War II and served as inspiration for scientists in Nazi Germany, who created breeding programs and pushed for the ethnic and disability cleansing policies that cost more than 11 million people their lives. Another country that jumped on the eugenics bandwagon: France. To reiterate, the United Kingdom, United States, Germany and France are all members of the G8. And eugenics is STILL officially practiced in the United States. This should surprise none, least of all my fellow Americans.

The notion that the US government is knowingly supporting GM crops and processed foodstuffs designed to slowly eliminate the poor and middle class is not difficult to believe. Far from it. But you be the judge. The key to the answer is a question: Who benefits?

  1. Thanks for posting this. A linked follow up article would be good.
Would like to know Bayer’s official policy on the matter and all of the G8 nations now regarding ban of it’s use.
